The ambision of Dr. Ravi, a General Physician currently living in the United Kingdom ‘Life Aid Centre’ has today made a mark in the areas of rural Tamil Nadu through its untiring efforts. After completing his graduation in medicine, Dr. Ravi began his career as a “Medical Officer” with a rural based charity organisation devoted to help the differently-abled people.

The job demanded frequent visit to rural areas and villages to organise Immunisation programmes and various health camps. He successfully handled several such camps in rural areas. For Dr. Ravi, the job not only gave the opportunity to understand the sufferings of the handicapped people, but also opened his heart to serve the poor.

As the visits became regular and more frequent, the urge to serve the handicapped and the poor were sowed deeply in his mind. Over a period of time he became more determined. The result was the birth of Life Aid Centre in 1990 on a humble note in Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. Life Aid Centre has been playing a very valuable role in providing special education for the deaf, rehabilitation, socio-economic upliftment of the neglected rural people especially disabled children, illiterate women and aged poor in and around Thiruvellore District & Vellore District Tamil Nadu, South India which comprises of largely illiterate farmers and farm workers.

The crusade started on a modest note has been making inroads gradually over the years, largely due to the unstinted efforts of Dr. Ravi. Today Life Aid Centre has expanded its sphere of activities and running a special residential school for the deaf and mentally retarded children, early detection & intervention programmes, vocational training center for destitute & illiterate women, rural health centre for the poor besides periodically organizing health camps in remote villages.

Life Aid Centre has been fully registered as a charitable society and is ably managed by a team of service-minded people drawn from all walks of life like professionally qualified in medicine and social work. Life Aid Centre obtained permission from Government of India to receive foreign contributions under FCRA Act and also has Tax Exemption certificate fewer than 80 G of Income Tax act of Government of India.
